The teaser of ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’, starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde, got a great response on social media and created a lot of buzz around the film. Seeing how well the teaser was received, the makers planned a big trailer launch event for Thursday. However, things did not go as planned; the event was suddenly called off, even after fans and media had already arrived at the venue.

According to a report in the Indian Express, the cancellation shocked everyone present, with the red carpet already rolled out and fans lined up outside PVR ICON in Andheri eagerly waiting for the event to begin. Producer Ramesh Taurani made his way to the venue and broke the news to those gathered, explaining that the trailer could not be shown due to a “technical glitch.” He assured the media and fans that they would be called back for a special screening within the next two to three days. The sudden turn of events left both fans and media personnel visibly disappointed as they left the venue.
‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ lands in legal dispute over ‘Chunari Chunari’
The trouble for ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ had started a few days before the trailer launch. The film had reportedly entered a legal dispute with Pooja Entertainment over the use of a remixed version of “Chunari Chunari” from ‘Biwi No.1’. As the issue gained attention, music and film production company Tips Industries released a public notice which said: “Tips Music Limited (Tips) has become aware of a suit filed by Puja Entertainment (India) Ltd. (PEIL) before the Civil Judge (Senior Division), Katihar, Bihar. While formal copies of the order are awaited, The music company clarifies that it is the lawful owner of the music rights in question, supported by valid and binding agreements between the parties. Tips has openly and legitimately exploited these rights for nearly three decades in full compliance with applicable laws. The claims made by PEIL are strongly disputed and appear to be malicious, misconceived, and intended to tarnish the reputation and goodwill of the music company. It remains fully confident in defending its rights before the appropriate courts and shall take all necessary legal steps to protect its interest and ownership of rights.”

Helmed by David Dhawan and bankrolled by Ramesh Taurani, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ is set to hit theatres on June 5.
