Good news for travellers aged 60 and above: Air India has introduced senior citizen concessions not only on domestic flights but also across its international network. With fare reductions, extra baggage allowance, and even payment-linked savings, the scheme aims to make flying more affordable and convenient for older passengers.

Senior citizens booking Air India international tickets can now enjoy:

10% off on base fares across all cabins

One free date change (fare difference payable)

Extra baggage allowance of 10 kg or one additional piece per passenger

The baggage allowance varies by class:

Economy: +10 kg (up to 40 kg max) or 2 pieces of 23 kg each

Premium Economy: +10 kg (up to 45 kg max) or 2 pieces of 23 kg each

Business: +10 kg (up to 50 kg max) or 2 pieces of 32 kg each

Domestic Flight Discounts

For domestic travel, senior citizens can avail:

25% off on base fares across the Air India network

Minimum ₹200 off per passenger with the same UPI-linked offer (code: UPIPROMO)

Additional rules for domestic concessions:

Baggage allowance: 15 kg

Date changes: One free change if made more than 3 days before departure. After that: ₹1,500 (more than 3 days before) or ₹3,000 (within 3 days).

Cancellations: ₹2,000 (more than 3 days before travel) or ₹3,500 (within 3 days).

No-show: ₹5,000 change fee; refunds not permitted.

How to Book

Tickets can be purchased via Air India’s offices, call centres, website, or mobile app.

Travellers must select ‘Senior Citizen’ under concession type at booking.

A valid photo ID with date of birth is mandatory at ticketing, check-in, and boarding.

Failure to provide ID may result in boarding denial and a penalty of twice the booked fare plus taxes. Surprise checks may be conducted by airport managers.

Valid only on Air India-operated flights, not codeshares.’

Discounts apply only to base fares and are subject to seat availability.

Offer valid on one-way and return tickets until further notice.

Tickets under this scheme are non-endorsable, non-reroutable, and no name changes are allowed.

All travel remains subject to Air India’s Conditions of Carriage.

Air India reserves the right to modify or withdraw the scheme at any time.
