A missing person case that had been ongoing for seven years took an unexpected turn after a woman spotted her “missing” husband in an Instagram reel with another woman, leading to his arrest.
Jitendra Kumar, also known as Bablu, was reported missing in 2018, a year after marrying Sheelu.

Their marriage soured quickly, with Sheelu alleging harassment for dowry, including demands for a gold chain and ring.
She was eventually forced out of her marital home when the demands went unmet, and her family filed a dowry harassment case.
While the case was under investigation, Jitendra vanished. His father later lodged a missing persons complaint in April 2018, sparking a police search that yielded no trace.
With no leads, Jitendra’s family accused Sheelu of killing him and concealing his body.
For years, Sheelu lived under suspicion while still uncertain of her husband’s fate.
The truth surfaced only recently, when she stumbled upon an Instagram reel showing Jitendra with another woman. Recognising him instantly, she alerted the police.
Investigators discovered that Jitendra had faked his disappearance and settled in Ludhiana, where he remarried and began a new life. His presence on social media ultimately exposed his secret.
Sandila Circle Officer Santosh Singh confirmed his arrest, adding that charges of bigamy, fraud, and dowry harassment have been filed.
Jitendra is currently in police custody, and further legal proceedings are in progress.
