Rajpal Yadav: ‘If it was a loan, then why call it fraud publicly?’

Rajpal Yadav breaks silence on Rs 5 crore fraud allegations: ‘If it was a loan, then why call it fraud publicly?’

Rajpal Yadav has opened up about the Rs 5 crore fraud allegations against him, saying the matter has been misunderstood and unnecessarily sensationalised.Speaking about the controversy, Rajpal Yadav said that if the amount involved had been much larger, he would have understood the seriousness surrounding the allegations.

‘Rs 5 crore is not such a huge amount’

Reacting to the accusations, Rajpal Yadav told Paras Chhabra, “Rs 5 crore is not such a huge amount. If it was Rs 500 crore or Rs 5000 crore, then maybe I would feel that something massive had happened.”The actor further shared that he did not wish to comment extensively on the matter as it is connected to court proceedings.“I don’t want to speak much on this because whatever orders the Honourable High Court has given will be followed,” he said.

Rajpal Yadav explains investment dispute

Explaining his side of the story, Rajpal Yadav stated that the issue was related to an investment in a film project and not fraud. The actor revealed that the project was valued at Rs 22 crore and involved the hard work and money of several people.Using a metaphor to explain the situation, Rajpal compared filmmaking to making tea. “Tea is not made by just one thing. It has sugar, tea leaves, milk, and the effort of many people behind it. Similarly, a film project also involves many people’s money and hard work,” he said.He added that damaging the reputation of a project before its release affects everyone associated with it.

‘People miscommunicated the issue’

Rajpal Yadav also questioned why the matter was publicly labelled as fraud if proper loan and investment paperwork already existed.“If it was a loan and all the papers are there, then why call it fraud publicly? This was unnecessary publicity and people miscommunicated the matter before the public,” the actor stated. He further claimed that the controversy caused major financial damage to the project even before its release.According to Rajpal, the film had involved nearly 200 artists and thousands of crowd performers, and was planned for a release across 1000 theatres before legal issues halted its progress.

‘I am a farmer’s son’

During the conversation, Rajpal Yadav turned emotional while speaking about his roots and journey.“I am a farmer’s son. I have grown wheat, planted paddy, worked in sugarcane fields, and even made jaggery with my own hands during childhood,” he shared. The actor added that acting was never just about money for him. “My village was enough for my food and survival. I came into entertainment to satisfy my inner passion,” he said.Rajpal Yadav also defended the dignity of actors and said performers are deeply respected by society.“An actor’s stature is never small. Kings and people everywhere honour artists with applause and respect,” he added.

Film project still unreleased

Rajpal Yadav revealed that the film linked to the controversy has still not been sold or released and remains unreleased despite substantial investment.“We can even show 52 episodes explaining where every rupee was spent. The project is still locked away for now, but it will eventually come out,” he concluded. Go to Source
