Breaking: TMC Candidate Jahangir Khan Withdraws From Bengal’s Falta Seat Ahead of Re-Poll Voting

In a major political development from West Bengal, Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Jahangir Khan has withdrawn his nomination from the Falta seat ahead of the scheduled re-polling on May 21. The decision comes amid heightened political tension and controversy surrounding alleged irregularities during the earlier voting process. The Falta constituency had witnessed complaints of large-scale disturbances and polling-related discrepancies, following which authorities ordered re-polling in the seat. Earlier, counting had reportedly taken place only for 293 seats, while the Falta result was kept on hold due to the disputed circumstances. Jahangir Khan’s withdrawal has now added a fresh twist to the political scenario in the constituency. While the exact reason behind his decision has not yet been officially clarified, the move is likely to trigger intense political debate in the state, especially with voting just around the corner. The Election Commission had announced fresh polling in Falta after receiving multiple complaints regarding alleged procedural violations and disturbances during the previous election phase. Security arrangements are expected to be tightened significantly for the re-poll to ensure smooth and fair voting. Political observers believe the withdrawal could impact the electoral equations in the constituency and may influence voter sentiment ahead of the crucial re-poll. Opposition parties are also expected to target the ruling TMC over the developments linked to the Falta election controversy. Meanwhile, all eyes are now on the upcoming May 21 re-polling, which is expected to witness heavy security deployment and close monitoring by election authorities. The final outcome from Falta will now be keenly watched as it could become one of the most talked-about seats in the state’s political landscape.
