Yash explains ‘Toxic’ delay; links hold-up to Hollywood-style release

Yash opens up about working with director Geetu Mohandas on 'Toxic'; reveals reason for film's delayed release

Yash has spilled the beans about his upcoming film ‘Toxic’, and the reason for its delayed release. The actor, who has already kickstarted promotions for the film, revealed in his latest interview the reason for choosing the film and about its release schedule which will reportedly match Hollywood distribution models.

Yash on working with Geetu Monhandas

Sharing his reason behind collaborating with director Geetu Mohandas and how working with a female filmmaker brought a different emotional lens to the story, he said in an interview with Variety, “We [men] see life differently. We see things differently.” He went on to add, “There is always a different point of view when women looks at things. We miss out on a lot of emotions or a lot of things. Maybe it doesn’t matter to us. What matters to us may not be the thing which they’ll be focusing in an incident or a situation. So that perspective becomes so refreshing, and it’s so layered, and it’s so deep.”Speaking about how the collaboration came together, he recalled Mohandas approaching him with the story. He explained, “On the face of it, it might look like a gangster film with all the commercial things, but it’s so nuanced because there is so much of moral ambiguity or raw emotions or dark side of human or certain topics which as an artist or at this point in my life, I would like to explore those kind of things on celluloid. ”

Yash on reason for postponing ‘Toxic’ release

Yash also addressed the makers opting to postpone the film’s release twice in the past year. Opening up about the film’s release strategy, he admitted to Variety that although it is something his fans will not like, he explained, “Unfortunately, marketing happens even if you don’t want to. The moment we start shooting, people start writing about it. In the West everything starts when you finish the film.”He added, “If somebody wants to buy the film or if somebody wants to be part of the film, they want to see the film because huge money is involved.”‘Toxic’ was previously scheduled to release on June 4, 2026. A new release date announcement is still awaited.
