‘Drishyam 3’ has generated massive excitement ahead of its worldwide theatrical release.Directed by Jeethu Joseph and headlined by Mohanlal, the crime thriller is the third chapter in one of Malayalam cinema’s most successful franchises.The film continues the story of Georgekutty and his family. Expectations are exceptionally high among fans and movie buffs.

Opening day advance sales for Mohanlal’s film cross Rs 14 crore

Industry tracker Jerin Georgekutty shared a major update on X on May 17. According to his report, ‘Drishyam 3’ has already crossed Rs 14 crore in worldwide advance bookings for its opening day.The post read, “#Drishyam3 Opening Day world wide advances touched 14 CRORES Mark : Kerala leading at Domestic market with 4.50 Crores+ ( inc fans shows) & GCC with $430K+ ( 4.12 Cr INR ) leading the Overseas markets ; Total Weekend world wide advance inching closer to 18.50 CRORES Mark : Just 4 More full days left #Mohanlal #Drishyam #JeethuJoseph.”

Kerala and GCC lead the charge

Kerala is currently the top-performing domestic market. Advance bookings in the state have crossed Rs 4.50 crore, including fan shows.Internationally, the Gulf region has emerged as the strongest overseas territory. The GCC has contributed more than USD 430,000, which is approximately Rs 4.12 crore. Worldwide weekend advance bookings are now approaching Rs 18.50 crore.

Familiar faces return to ‘Drishyam’ franchise

The new installment brings back several key cast members from the earlier films. Alongside Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil reprise their established roles. The supporting cast also includes Siddique, Asha Sharath, and Murali Gopy.

Hindi version of ‘Drishyam 3’ will feature major changes

The makers have confirmed that the Hindi adaptation starring Ajay Devgn will not be a direct remake of the Malayalam original. While both versions continue the story from where ‘Drishyam 2’ ended, the Hindi film will adopt a different screenplay and narrative approach.Speaking to ANI, Abhishek Pathak said, “You will understand the difference only when you watch the Hindi trailer. The story in Drishyam 2 ended at a certain point, and Drishyam 3 begins from there. The Malayalam version also starts from that point. The Malayalam version is more of a family drama. As Jeethu Joseph told us during the launch, the story is very good for the Malayalam audience, and they will like it.
