From Pilates to Calisthenics, fitness trends in 2025 focus on strength, flexibility, and mindful movement for a healthier lifestyle.

The way we approach fitness is shifting, with more people moving away from repetitive gym routines and leaning toward practices that feel more personal, mindful, and empowering. Two forms of training standing out this year are Pilates and Calisthenics, each distinct, yet transformative.

Meghna Kaur, fashion and lifestyle content creator, explains why Pilates has become a steady anchor in her wellness routine. She shares, “Yes, I do Pilates and it’s something I’ve really come to enjoy. It keeps me grounded, stronger, and more flexible. On alternate days I add weight training, which balances it out perfectly. Together, they’ve improved my posture, boosted my energy, and just made me feel so much better in my own body.”

Pilates, once considered a niche fitness practice in India, has seen tremendous growth in recent years. It is no longer limited to celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Meghna Kaur, or Katrina Kaif, but is steadily gaining popularity among a wider Indian audience. Many gyms have now begun incorporating Pilates sessions into their offerings, giving clients more diverse options to stay fit.

Alongside Pilates, another fitness trend making waves is Calisthenics. Focused on movement and bodyweight training, it is quickly becoming the go-to choice for fitness enthusiasts who enjoy strength, flexibility, and functional workouts without relying heavily on equipment.

Rida Tharana, fashion, lifestyle, and travel influencer, tells us how she discovered her calling in Calisthenics, an approach rooted in bodyweight movements and skill-building. She says, “I practice Calisthenics. I’d wanted to start my fitness journey for the longest time, but regular gyms and weightlifting just never sat right with me. I’m someone who vibes a lot with the space I’m in, the people around me, and the kind of energy I feel, and every time I stepped into those gyms it just felt… toxic in ways I couldn’t even put into words. I didn’t even know Calisthenics existed until my trainer randomly reached out to me on DMs. My body feels stronger. I feel confident in it. I know for a fact that if I’m low on energy or having an off day, one session can completely turn it around. It just makes everything better.”

Together, their journeys reflect a shift: fitness in 2025 is less about rigid goals and more about joy, balance, and sustainability in movement.
