Throwback: When Simi and Farah defended Abhishek

Throwback: When Simi Garewal and Farah Khan defended Abhishek Bachchan amid divorce buzz with Aishwarya Rai

When the rumours of trouble in Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s marriage did the rounds, veteran actor and talk show host Simi Garewal stepped in to defend the actor against nasty speculations. In early September 2024, Simi, who has enjoyed a warm relationship with the Bachchan family for decades, posted a throwback clip from her iconic show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal. The video featured a young Abhishek talking about loyalty in relationships. “If you commit to a woman, even if you’re just her boyfriend, you should be loyal to her. Because you wouldn’t like it if she wasn’t loyal to you. Men are usually accused of being disloyal; I have never been able to understand that. It disgusts me,” Abhishek said in the clip.

Farah Khan’s support

Sharing the snippet, Simi praised him for his character and values. “Everyone who knows Abhishek will agree he is among the nicest men in Bollywood. Good values and innate decency,” she wrote.Farah Khan quickly chimed in under the post, commenting, “I fully agree. He is just the nicest guy!”

Why Simi’s post was deleted?

However, the post drew a mixed response online. Many users praised Simi for standing by Abhishek, but others criticised the timing, accusing her of “protecting” him while overlooking Aishwarya’s position in the rumours. The backlash prompted Simi to quietly delete her post. Speculation about discord between Aishwarya and the Bachchan family first emerged last July when Ash and daughter Aaradhya skipped posig together with the Bachchan family at a highly publicised event. Rumours only deepened when neither Abhishek nor the family publicly wished Aishwarya on her birthday.Despite the chatter, neither Abhishek nor Aishwarya has addressed the rumours directly. On the work front, Abhishek Bachchan is currently gearing to play a major role in the upcoming film ‘King’ that will see him starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan.
