The United States will host the G20 summit in 2026, and the venue will be none other than Miami, Florida, specifically, the Trump National Doral resort. President Donald Trump made the announcement on Friday during a press briefing in the Oval Office, calling it a moment of pride for the country.
“I’m thrilled to announce that the 2026 G20 conference will be held in one of our country’s greatest cities — beautiful Miami, Florida,” Trump said. He added that the summit would allow the US to showcase its achievements on a global stage. “I look forward to showing our successes to the rest of the world because America is the hottest country on earth,” he added.

Trump confirmed that the high-level meeting of the world’s largest economies will be held at his own property, the Trump National Doral resort and spa. Defending the decision, he described the resort as a practical and ideal location. “Everybody wants it there because it’s right next to the airport, it’s the best location, it’s beautiful — a beautiful everything,” said the President.
Addressing concerns about personal financial benefit, Trump clarified, “We will not make any money on it. We’re doing a deal where it’s not going to be money, there’s no money in it. I just want it to go well.”
This will be the first time in two decades that the G20 summit will take place in the US. The last US-hosted G20 was held in Pittsburgh in 2009 under President Barack Obama.
Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, who joined the President for the announcement, called it a “historic” moment for the city. “It puts the city on the map as one of the truly great global cities,” Suarez said, thanking Trump for selecting Miami. He also emphasised the economic boost expected from hosting the summit, calling it “a tremendous boom for the economy.”
Trump echoed the sentiment, saying the event would bring in “millions and millions of dollars” to the US economy. He also noted that planning for the agenda is already underway.
Meanwhile, Trump will not attend this year’s G20 summit in South Africa, and Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to represent the US.
