Rakul Preet Singh reacts to Jackky Bhagnani’s ‘situationship’ remark

Rakul Preet Singh reacts to Jackky Bhagnani's 'situationship' remark: 'People don't know about our life, it was taken out of context'

Rakul Preet Singh is currently occupied with promotions for her upcoming film ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’, which also stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan and Wamiqa Gabbi. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film is slated to release in theatres on May 15. Recently, Rakul found herself amidst a discussion started on the internet after her husband, producer Jackky Bhagnani, jokingly referred to their marriage as a “situationship” during an interview. The remark quickly went viral and Rakul also made a hilarious video reacting to it. Now, she has finally broken silence on it. Rakul clarified that the comment was made in a playful context and was blown out of proportion. The actor explained that only a small portion of the conversation was picked up and circulated without context.“Obviously, we were laughing about it. Then it started getting a little too much, and became a little personal. I felt that people don’t know us. People don’t know [about] our life. It was also taken out of context… it was just that word and that line (which became headlines). Not the question and not the lines before that,” she said in an interview with India Today. Rakul further pointed out that the exchange happened while both of them were part of the same interview conversation and was never intended to be taken seriously. “Also, because I am sitting in that interview. It’s not like my husband has gone and said that somewhere else. We were talking about relationships. Then we felt, let’s just joke about it. It’s okay, mistakes do happen, it’s not a big deal.”The controversy began after a clip featuring Jackky Bhagnani started circulating online. In the viral snippet, he said, “Rakul and I are married, but we are like in a situationship. Of course, we are exclusive to each other because that’s why we are married. But the most important thing is that I can talk to her about anything.” The statement soon triggered online reactions, with several users assuming there could be problems in the couple’s marriage.During the interview, Rakul also shared her views on modern relationships and the changing perception of marriage. She noted that while marriage may not hold the same meaning for everyone today, people should never feel compelled to marry because of societal expectations or age-related pressure.Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani dated for almost three years before getting married on February 21, 2024. The couple tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony held in Goa.
