BIG UPDATE: PM Modi, Amit Shah & JP Nadda Cut Convoy Size Amid Nationwide Cost Saving Drive

A major policy and symbolic shift is being reported as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Health Minister JP Nadda have reportedly reduced the size of their official convoys by half. According to sources, the number of vehicles in their motorcades has been significantly cut as part of a broader message promoting austerity, fuel conservation, and reduced government expenditure. The development comes in the wake of the Prime Minister’s nationwide appeal encouraging citizens and government departments to adopt cost-cutting measures and reduce unnecessary consumption, particularly fuel usage. Officials indicate that this initiative is aimed at addressing rising fuel import costs and minimizing pressure on the national economy. Reports suggest that several state governments have also begun implementing similar measures. Chief ministers in multiple states are reportedly reducing convoy sizes, encouraging the use of public transport, and promoting work-from-home arrangements wherever feasible. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma is also said to have reduced his convoy strength as part of this ongoing cost-control campaign. Visuals emerging from Delhi also show public representatives adopting public transport. Delhi minister Kapil Mishra was seen traveling via metro, reportedly following the broader message of using shared transport systems. Similar instances of ministers using metro services have been observed, signaling an effort to set an example for citizens. According to officials, the initiative is being driven by concerns over rising global crude oil prices, increased import bills, and the need to strengthen economic resilience. The government is also emphasizing a gradual shift toward electric vehicles and more efficient energy use in official transport systems. The Cabinet is expected to deliberate further on structured cost-control measures, with a focus on reducing administrative expenditure and improving long-term fiscal efficiency. The coordinated action from top leadership and state governments reflects a unified push toward austerity and sustainable governance practices.
