How Manorama is the only actress to work with 7 Chief Ministers

From Annadurai to Vijay: How ‘Aachi’ Manorama is the only actress to share screen space with 7 Chief Ministers

The late legendary actress Manorama achieved a rare milestone in Indian cinema by sharing screen space with seven South Indian Chief Ministers. Former Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers C. N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi acted with her during their stage drama days. She also worked with legendary leaders and actors like M. G. Ramachandran, J. Jayalalithaa, and N. T. Rama Rao in films. Apart from them, she also acted with M. K. Stalin and the current Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Vijay, creating a historic and unmatched record in Tamil cinema.

Manorama’s unfulfilled wish remained till the end

Manorama shared screen space with Vijay in films like ‘Rasigan’ and also acted alongside M.K. Stalin in ‘Ore Raththam,’ which Karunanidhi wrote. Even after achieving massive fame and success, she reportedly had one unfulfilled dream. Throughout her illustrious career, the legendary Manorama deeply respected the transgender community and long aspired to portray a transgender character on the silver screen. Sadly, this ambition remained unfulfilled at the time of her passing. Nevertheless, her iconic performances and cinematic legacy continue to live on in the hearts of her devoted followers.

Manorama’s personal life was filled with pain

While she made millions of people happy through her comic and emotional acts, Manorama’s own life was full of challenges. Before entering the cinema, she worked in stage dramas where she fell in love with S.M. Ramanathan and married him against her family’s wishes. However, a report from News 18 says he later left Manorama and their newborn child. Interestingly, her father had also abandoned the family during her childhood. Manorama stood tall despite the heartache she endured and focused all her attention and efforts on becoming a great actor in the film industry.

Aachi Manorama – An irreplaceable gem of Tamil Cinema

Affectionately referred to as “Aachi,” Manorama earned herself an unparalleled status in Tamil cinema through her comedies, role performances, and emotional scenes. She performed in over 1,500 movies and more than 5,000 theatre plays, securing a place in the Guinness World Records. In addition, she won several awards, such as the Padma Shri, Kalaimamani Award, and Anna Award. Manorama acted alongside three generations of actors and politicians and spent her whole life pursuing art and entertainment. Go to Source
