Indian-origin man, sole earner of family, dies of heart attack in Florida: ‘Worked tirelessly for a better life in US’

A Telugu-origin IT professional working in US died of a heart attack in Florida, leaving behind his wife and two young children. A community fundraising effort was started to support the family.Sunil Kumar Gundrai worked with Capgemini in Tampa and passed away last week. According to a GoFundMe page started by NATS Helpline, his death was unexpected and has left his family facing emotional and financial hardship.“It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that NATS Helpline shares the devastating news of the untimely passing of Sunil Kumar Gundrai, a loving husband, devoted father, and dedicated professional working with Capgemini in Tampa, Florida. Sunil tragically lost his life in the late hours of May 7, 2026, to a sudden heart attack, leaving behind a grieving family and two young children whose world has been forever changed.”Gundrai was originally from Gadwal in Telangana and came from a modest background where education and hard work were valued. The fundraiser describes how he was inspired by his father, a government school teacher, and worked with determination to build a stable future in US. “Originally from Gadwal, Telangana, Sunil came from a humble background where education and hard work were deeply valued. Inspired by his father, a government school teacher, Sunil worked tirelessly to build a better life for his family in the United States. Every sacrifice he made was driven by one dream – to give his children the best possible future and education.”The page states that Gundrai was the sole earning member of the household, and his sudden death has left his family struggling to cope while being far from extended relatives and support systems.“As the sole earning member of the family, Sunil’s unexpected passing has left his wife and children facing immense emotional and financial hardship, far away from their extended family and support system.”A fundraising campaign has been launched to help the family meet immediate and long-term needs, including living expenses, funeral costs and the children’s education.The funds raised through this campaign will help provide: ⁠Immediate living and emergency expenses,⁠ ⁠funeral and related arrangements, household and day-to-day family needs, ⁠long-term educational support for his two young children — fulfilling the dream Sunil cherished mostt.The organisers have appealed for public support, saying even small contributions can make a difference.“No donation is too small. Every contribution, every share, and every prayer can make a meaningful difference in helping this family regain stability and hope during an unimaginable tragedy.”As of Sunday, the fundraiser had collected $64,553 of a $200,000 goal, with 789 donations received so far.
