RIIZE’s Sungchan faces backlash over d4vd song on playlist

RIIZE’s Sungchan faces criticism over d4vd song on playlist amid Celeste Rivas Hernandez murder investigation

RIIZE member Sungchan has drawn criticism online after fans noticed that a song by d4vd appeared on a playlist he shared in March 2026. The playlist included d4vd’s ‘Here With Me,’ and the detail resurfaced after the singer was arrested and charged in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The case has already led to wider backlash against d4vd, who has pleaded not guilty. Some fans criticized Sungchan for sharing the song while d4vd was under public scrutiny, while others argued that he may not have known about the investigation.

RIIZE’s Sungchan’s playlist sparks backlash

According to Koreaboo, Sungchan shared a list of songs he had listened to during the day at the end of March. The list included d4vd’s track ‘Here With Me’. The post gained fresh attention after some fans noticed that others had removed the song while reposting the playlist online. The backlash grew because d4vd had already faced criticism before his arrest. In September 2025, a body was found inside an impounded Tesla in Los Angeles. The car was registered to d4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke. The Los Angeles Police Department responded after a foul odor was reported from the vehicle. Investigators later identified the victim as Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 14-year-old who had been reported missing.

d4vd’s case draws wider criticism

Koreaboo reported that d4vd was arrested on April 20 and charged with first-degree murder, child sexual abuse, and mutilation of human remains. People reported that Burke has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody while the case moves through court. Prosecutors have alleged that he had an inappropriate relationship with Rivas. His legal team has denied responsibility for her death.Sungchan’s playlist has now become a point of debate among fans. Some users said the inclusion of d4vd’s song was careless because the singer had already been linked to a serious investigation. Others said Sungchan may have simply added a popular track without knowing the details of the case. The debate also raised questions about how fans share idol content during sensitive controversies. Some criticized the removal of the song from reposted versions of Sungchan’s playlist, saying it looked like an attempt to hide the detail. Others said the focus should remain on the criminal case and the victim, not on fan edits.
