Dhurandhar 2 OTT release date out? Court hints at streaming plans

‘Dhurandhar 2’ OTT release date revealed? Court case hints at streaming plans - Reports

Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh, continues its strong box office run while sparking OTT buzz. A court case over a remixed song revealed it may release on streaming by mid-May, following the usual 8–10 week window. Unlike the first film on Netflix, the sequel is expected to stream on OTT.

‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ has completed seven weeks in theatres and continues to perform strongly at the box office, setting new records for Bollywood. Directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, it has become the biggest Hindi film in India and one of the top-grossing Indian films worldwide. Even as it is still playing in cinemas, interest in its OTT release is growing. While the makers have not made any official announcement yet, a legal case involving the film has offered some clues about their plans.

‘Dhurandhar 2’ legal dispute over song usage

The spy thriller ‘Dhurandhar 2’ used the song Tirchi Topiwale in its climax, presenting it in a remixed form titled Rang De Laal, composed by Shashwat Sachdev. Rajiv Rai, who directed and produced Tridev, the film where the original song appeared, has taken legal action against the makers, alleging that the track was used without authorisation. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had asked both parties to resolve the dispute through mediation, but it was informed on Wednesday that the mediation process did not succeed.

‘Dhurandhar 2’ court hearing reveals OTT timeline

As per Hindustan Times, Super Cassettes, which holds the audio and music rights for ‘Dhurandhar 2’, opposed the petitioner’s plea for interim relief during the hearing. The film’s producer, B62 Films, told the court that it has already been released in theatres and is unlikely to be available on OTT before mid-May. This matches the typical 8–10 week gap between a film’s theatrical release and its streaming debut. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is set to complete eight weeks in cinemas on May 14.

‘Dhurandhar 2’ streaming platform details

The original ‘Dhurandhar’, released in December 2025, arrived on streaming platforms eight weeks after its theatrical debut, on January 30. While the first film was released on Netflix, the sequel is set to stream on JioHotstar.

‘Dhurandhar 2’ cast, story and box office records

‘Dhurandhar 2’, directed by Aditya Dhar, is a spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh as an Indian agent in Karachi. The two films have together earned over Rs 3100 crore worldwide and also feature Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun. The sequel has created several box office records, including the biggest opening for a Bollywood film and the highest collection in India for a Hindi movie. It is the only Hindi film to cross Rs 1000 crore net domestically. With a global total nearing Rs 1800 crore, it is currently the second-highest-grossing Indian film ever. Go to Source
