Police investigation into the murder of BJP leader Shuvendu Adhikari’s PA Chandranath Rath has intensified, with three local history-sheeters detained for questioning. These suspects are currently being interrogated as investigators try to uncover the local network and logistical support behind the attack. Ground reports suggest the killing was a carefully planned operation. The attackers reportedly used a vehicle to block Rath’s car before a motorbike-borne assailant approached and fired multiple shots at close range, despite awareness of CCTV coverage in the area. Around six bullets were fired, five of which struck Rath, while one hit his phone. Police and CID teams believe the operation involved prior planning, including possible reconnaissance and coordination among multiple individuals. CCTV footage, forensic evidence, and recovered materials are being analyzed to trace the attackers’ movements and establish the full sequence of events behind the targeted killing in Madhyamgram.
