After her defeat from the Bhabanipur seat, Mamata Banerjee made serious allegations, claiming she was assaulted by CAPF personnel and that irregularities occurred in over 100 seats. She termed the outcome an “immoral victory” and accused the Election Commission of India of bias, calling it a “BJP Commission.” She also vowed to challenge the results and make a political comeback. The loss has been attributed to multiple factors, including strong anti-incumbency after 15 years of TMC rule, allegations of corruption, unemployment, and weak governance. Issues like political violence, poor election management, and perceptions of family dominance further weakened TMC. Meanwhile, BJP’s strong grassroots strategy and voter mobilization played a key role in securing victory.
