A devastating fire broke out in a four-storey residential building in Vivek Vihar, resulting in the death of nine people and injuring at least two others. The incident occurred around 3:45–4:00 AM, reportedly due to a suspected AC explosion or electrical short circuit. The fire quickly spread across the second, third, and fourth floors of the building. Many residents were caught in their sleep and had little time to escape. Several people tried to flee but were trapped due to heavy smoke and locked exit points. Some bodies were even recovered from staircases, suggesting death due to suffocation. Rescue teams have so far saved around 10–20 people, while cooling operations are still underway. Fire officials confirmed that multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was brought under control after extensive effort. Initial reports suggest one family lost up to five members in the tragedy. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but authorities suspect an electrical fault linked to an air conditioner. The incident has left the area in shock as rescue and identification efforts continue.
