According to Mid-Day, Dasgupta approached the police after discussing the matter with her husband. She formally registered the complaint on April 29 at the Oshiwara police station. Police have registered a case under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and have begun efforts to identify the person behind the unknown WhatsApp number. The actor told the publication that she first tried calling the number after receiving the obscene material, but no one answered. She then blocked the sender and informed her family about the incident. Dasgupta also claimed that the person circulated some of her old photographs. She said those pictures are no longer publicly available, which led her to suspect the sender might be someone she knew.

“Those pictures are not even on Google anymore. It makes me feel this could be someone known to me, trying to mentally harass me deliberately,” Dasgupta told mid-day.Speaking about the nature of the messages, Dasgupta said people in the public eye often receive messages from fans, including some that are inappropriate. However, she said this incident was different because of the explicit material sent to her phone.“I have never experienced something this vulgar before,” she said. “I have blocked many numbers earlier for indecent messages, but this is the first time someone has sent such vulgar videos. I was stunned.”Dasgupta began her journey as a child artist in Bengali cinema and later worked across Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada films. She also appeared in television shows, including ‘Zee Horror Show’ and stage productions, building a long career in the industry. Police are now examining the screenshots submitted by Dasgupta and trying to track the number used to send the obscene videos, nude images, and old photographs.
