Five Indian-origin men charged in Canada after $2 million worth of cannabis seized from trailer

Five Indian-origin men have been charged in Canada after police recovered a stolen trailer carrying cannabis products worth more than $2 million in Mississauga.The seizure was made on April 15 when York Regional Police officers from the Auto Cargo Theft Unit were patrolling the area around McLaughlin Road and Highway 401. They located a trailer that had been reported stolen from the Niagara Region and was believed to be carrying a large consignment of cannabis products meant for delivery to licensed dispensaries.Officers identified several men in the vicinity who were linked to the stolen trailer, reports CTV News. All five were arrested at the scene. During searches of the suspects, officers also recovered two firearms.The accused have been identified as 21-year-old Manveer Singh, 32-year-old Sarbjeet Singh, 21-year-old Dilkhab Singh, 25-year-old Karan Kumar and 23-year-old Jaiskavan Malhi. Police said all except Kumar are from Brampton, while Kumar is from Hamilton.The group now faces a total of 33 charges combined, including theft over $5,000 involving a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, along with firearm-related offences.Police have said there may be additional victims connected to the case and are urging anyone with information to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
