YouTuber MrBeast is reportedly in a legal fight with Toronto-based production company MHQ over his reality show Beast Games. According to a report by Toronto Life published on April 24, 2026, MrBeast’s company, MRB2024, LLC, has filed a lawsuit to recover $5 million that was paid to MHQ during the early planning stage of the show. The money was reportedly sent in May 2024 as an advance for production services when the team was preparing to film the first season of Beast Games in Toronto. But after plans suddenly changed and the working relationship broke down, MrBeast’s company claimed MHQ did not complete the work and should return the money. MHQ strongly denied that and said it had already done major work for the project.

MrBeast says MHQ should return the money, but MHQ says it built the show’s foundation

According to Toronto Life, MrBeast’s company first contacted MHQ in spring 2024 with a huge plan to film and release Beast Games by December that same year. The production needed space, staff, and planning for more than 1,000 contestants and crew members, making it one of the biggest projects the company had handled. As part of the agreement, MRB2024 reportedly paid MHQ $5 million on May 23, 2024.Soon after that, MrBeast’s team decided to move production to Atlanta and ended its deal with MHQ. However, that plan reportedly failed within a week, and the team wanted to return to Toronto. By then, MHQ refused to come back to the project. MrBeast’s company then had to restart production in Toronto with a different production partner. MRB2024 later asked for the full $5 million back, saying there was no proof that MHQ had spent the money on the show.MHQ disagreed and said it had already provided records showing where the money went. The company argued the payment was not just for direct costs, but also for its full commitment, including staff time, company resources, and turning down other projects to focus on Beast Games. In court documents shared by Toronto Life, MHQ stated, “MHQ has been unfairly tarred by association with Beast in that regard, without receiving any of the corresponding benefit (whether financial or in the form of an executive producer credit) that should have accrued to it as a result of its work on the production.”The company also said, “In practical terms, MHQ created the blueprint that enabled the show to be executed successfully.”MHQ has now filed a counterclaim asking for another $5 million. The case has not yet been decided by the court. Go to Source
