A major security lapse has been reported during a dinner event attended by Donald Trump at the Hilton Hotel in Washington DC during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. A shooting occurred inside the ballroom while Trump, Melania Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and other senior officials were present. Panic broke out as gunfire was heard, forcing Secret Service agents to immediately act and evacuate the President and other dignitaries to safety. According to reports, the attacker approached the venue under the guise of being part of the event, before opening fire inside the hall. Around 150 journalists were present, many of whom took cover under tables as chaos spread. Security personnel quickly responded and restrained the attacker, who was later taken into custody. Footage shows Secret Service agents rushing the President out of the venue while securing the area. The suspect was pursued and captured shortly after the attack. Authorities have confirmed a serious security breach and have launched an investigation into how weapons were brought inside such a high-security event. Trump later stated that he does not believe there is any confirmed link between the attacker and Iran, although investigations are still ongoing to determine the motive and background of the suspect.
