Akshay daughter Nitara cyber harassment case: Accused arrested

Akshay Kumar daughter Nitara cyber harassment case: Maharashtra Cyber arrests accused; ‘She was very brave and informed her parents’

The Maharashtra Cyber department has arrested a person in connection with the cyber harassment case involving Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar’s daughter, Nitara Kumar. As reported by IANS, Additional Director General of Police, Maharashtra Cyber, Yashasvi Yadav, confirmed the development and said the accused has been taken into custody after investigation into the matter.According to officials, Nitara was allegedly targeted while she was playing an online game, where she received inappropriate messages, including a demand for nude photographs.

Cyber police on case breakthrough

Speaking about the case during a cyber awareness session at R.D. National College in Mumbai, ADG Yadav said the information reached the authorities through Akshay Kumar himself after his daughter reported the incident at home.He said, “He (Akshay Kumar) had a very shocking story to share with us. He said that his own daughter was being sextorted. The girl was very brave and informed her parents. Through her parents, we received this information, and that is how we handled the case.”He added that the case was an example of how quickly online interactions can escalate into cybercrime risks.

During the session, officials also played an old clip of Akshay Kumar where the actor had narrated the incident publicly in October 2025. He said, “I would like to share a small incident with you, which happened at my home a few months ago. My daughter was playing a video game. There are some video games that you can play with someone, you are playing with an unknown stranger.”He explained how the conversation started normally before turning inappropriate.“When you are playing, you get messages like ‘Thank you, that was great’ or ‘You are doing so good’. Suddenly, the person asked, ‘Where are you from?’ She said, ‘Mumbai’. Then everything was normal again,” he said. The actor further added, “Then a message came, ‘Are you male or female?’ She replied, ‘Female’. After that, he sent a message asking, ‘Can you send me a nude picture of yours?’ My daughter switched off the game immediately and told my wife.”

Akshay Kumar also stressed how such incidents can lead to bigger dangers online.“This is how things begin. This is also a part of cybercrime. People and children get carried away. Extortion money has to be given. There are many cases of suicides. In the digital world, it is very important that our children learn about this,” he said. The actor had also urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis earlier to introduce cybercrime awareness classes in schools.
