A day after Darbhanga Police said an individual was arrested for allegedly abusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a Bihar rally, a man from Madhya Pradesh has claimed that he is being framed in the incident. He further stated that his fake photos were being circulated to defame him and the BJP.

The man, identified as Nek Mohammad Rizwi, is reportedly a BJP supporter.

This comes a day after the BJP and Congress workers clashed during a protest carried out by the ruling party over the abusive language used against PM Modi and his mother during a rally in poll-bound Bihar.

Rizwi said that he has no links with Bihar and has never visited the state, where elections are scheduled for the end of the year.

Speaking to NDTV, he described the situation as a disinformation campaign aimed at tarnishing the ruling party’s image. He accused the Congress of being unable to accept that Muslims are now supporting the BJP.

The NDTV report mentioned that he also filed a police complaint to have his photos removed from social media.

The report cited Rizwi as saying that he has not abused anyone, with Rizwi saying, “Modi ji is our leader.”

The BJP worker further said that if required, his call records and location history checked to prove that he has never been to Bihar and has no connection with the state.

The row erupted on Friday with the BJP claiming “extremely abusive language” was used against PM Modi and his late mother, Heeraben, at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar this week.

The yatra “humiliated the people of Bihar (and) crossed all limits of insult, hatred, and lowliness”, the ruling party said, targeting Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.

The BJP also filed a complaint at the Kotwali Police Station in Patna, seeking an apology from the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.

Reacting to the purported video, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar condemned the incident, calling it “extremely inappropriate.”

“During the Voter Adhikaar Yatra, the kind of abusive language used from the Congress and RJD stage against Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and his late mother is extremely inappropriate, and I condemn it,” CM Nitish Kumar tweeted.

Earlier on Friday, Darbhanga Police while responding to an online query, tweeted that they have arrested a suspect but did not name Mohammad Rizwi. The BJP worker claimed that that he was not the person involved, despite the accusations.

Meanwhile, the Congress distanced itself from the allegations, stating that the BJP was focusing on “irrelevant” issues.

The BJP, however, responded sharply. While addressing a rally in Assam, Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed that the Congress “always abused PM Modi” and labelled the incident as a “stain” on the country. He further accused Rahul Gandhi of leading Congress to its lowest political level in an online post.
