Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 3’ dispute NOT resolved yet

Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 3’ dispute NOT resolved yet, contrary to reports, Excel Entertainment has no stake in ‘Pralay’.

Ranveer Singh is currently riding high, both in his career and personal life. His recent release, Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’, has turned into a massive success, emerging as the highest-grossing Hindi film at the domestic box office and ranking as the third highest-grossing Indian film worldwide. On the personal front, the actor is also preparing to embrace fatherhood once again, after he and Deepika Padukone announced her second pregnancy earlier this week.Amid this wave of success, fresh developments regarding ‘Don 3’ controversy have now appeared. Several media reports suggested that his long-standing dispute with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment over ‘Don 3’ has finally been resolved. According to these reports, Ranveer and the production house had reached an amicable settlement months after his exit from the much-anticipated third installment of the franchise. A report by Free Press Journal stated that Ranveer had agreed to compensate Excel Entertainment for pre-production costs by paying Rs 10 crore. He was also reportedly set to offer the production house an undisclosed stake in his upcoming tentpole project, Jai Mehta’s zombie apocalypse film ‘Pralay’, which is expected to go on floors later this year. However, a latest report by Screen sees a source Excel Entertainment denying these claims, clarifying that the situation remains unchanged. While there is hope for a resolution soo, especially since it has been over a month since ‘Dhurandhar 2’ hit theatres, the negotiations are still ongoing, with no concrete progress so far. Another insider associated with the production of Pralay, which has yet to be officially announced, dismissed reports of Excel Entertainment’s involvement in the project. The source revealed that while Ranveer is likely to step into production under his new banner Maa Kasam Films, the film is currently backed by Sameer Nair’s Applause Entertainment and Hansal Mehta’s True Story Films. For those not in the know, Ranveer had exited Don 3 earlier this year, shortly after ‘Dhurandhar’ turned into a blockbuster. The decision was reportedly driven by creative disagreements over the script, prompting him to shift focus toward completing patchwork on ‘Dhurandhar 2’. Excel Entertainment sought compensation and filed a legal suit against Ranveer after his exit from the project, citing extensive pre-production work that had already been initiated with his approval.
