U.S. President Donald Trump has officially announced an extension of the ceasefire with Iran, sharing the update via a late-night social media post. Trump clarified that the suspension of military strikes will remain in place until Iran presents a formal peace proposal and a definitive conclusion is reached in bilateral talks. Notably, the President attributed this decision to a diplomatic appeal from Pakistan. Trump justified the extension by claiming the Iranian government is “seriously divided” and “fractured,” suggesting that the pause is intended to give Tehran’s leadership time to unify and draft a coherent proposal. However, the President coupled this olive branch with a firm warning: the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will continue without interruption, and U.S. forces remain in a state of high combat readiness.
