The Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill failed to pass in the Lok Sabha due to a lack of the required two-thirds majority. The bill needed 352 votes for approval, but the government could not secure sufficient support. Reports indicate that around 298 votes were cast in favor, while approximately 230 were against, leading to the bill’s rejection. Following its failure, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) staged protests within the Parliament premises, accusing the opposition of being anti-women. Visuals of MPs demonstrating and raising slogans emerged, reflecting heightened political tensions. The NDA also announced nationwide protests and press conferences to address the issue and criticize opposition parties. Leaders from the alliance are expected to speak across the country, emphasizing that the rejection of the bill represents a setback for women’s empowerment. The protest continued into the next day as well, with NDA MPs expressing strong dissatisfaction. The development has intensified the political divide, with both sides blaming each other for the bill’s failure.
