Box office performance of ‘Dacoit’

Story and plot of Mrunal Thakur’s film

Set during the COVID-19 period, ‘Dacoit’ follows Hari aka Romeo, played by Adivi Sesh. He is a man deeply in love. His life changes when Saraswati aka Juliet becomes the reason for his conviction in a murder. Hari escapes from prison. His journey turns into a wild cat-and-mouse chase with an eccentric police officer, played by Anurag Kashyap, and a corrupt head of a hospital chain, played by Prakash Raj.Hari must stay focused on his mission to escape and seek revenge. Yet, for a man deeply in love, letting go is not easy even after thirteen long years. The narrative mixes action, emotion, and twists. It aims to blend intensity with swagger in a stylised, massy format.

Critical reception for the Adivi Sesh starrer

ETimes review for the film reads, “The film packs in several twists, and a few of them, including the climax, are genuinely shocking. On paper, these moments have real impact, but they needed far tighter writing to truly land. There’s a clear attempt to tap into the current wave of stylised, massy, alpha-male driven action cinema that’s dominating the space. Dacoit: The Love Story aims to ride that high with a mix of intensity, emotion and swagger. But instead of coming together as a gripping entertainer, it ends up feeling uneven and overstuffed – a film with big intentions that ultimately turns into a misfire”.

Overseas collections

Overseas markets have shown better response than domestic ones. The film has crossed Rs 12 crore in gross collections abroad.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and the data in this article are compiled from public and industry sources.
