Spanish footwear brand Alohas, known for its on-demand production model, is expanding its catalogue and has announced the launch of its first handbag collection. The line, titled Hilma, will go on sale from May across the brand’s stores and online.

For its foray into accessories, Alohas has opted for a sculptural silhouette and added customisation features to its bags; they include rings for attaching charms or keyrings, along with a transparent central pocket. “Conceived as a space for self-expression, this bag allows the wearer to visually curate what they carry with them, from photographs and handwritten notes to small objects and personal mementos,” the brand explains.

“Hilma introduces a distinctive undulating construction, creating an architectural profile that feels both modern and organic. The bag’s flowing lines lend a sense of movement to the design, transforming an everyday accessory into an object with character, while retaining the practicality needed for daily use,” says Emmelie Karlstrom, design director for footwear, handbags, and accessories at the brand. The brand’s first selection of handbags will include two large styles, three medium, and five mini.

Alohas was founded in Hawaii in 2015 by Spaniard Alejandro Porras and is currently based in Barcelona, with production concentrated in Spain and Portugal. Although it launched online, the firm has a solid retail network, with eight boutiques across Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, New York, Milan, Copenhagen, and London, the latter of which opened in Soho last September. Financially, according to its latest available results, in the 2024 financial year it posted revenues of €34 million.
