Television and OTT star Kritika Kamra has broken her silence on one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of 2026. The actress, who quietly tied the knot with sports broadcaster and media personality Gaurav Kapur in an intimate registry ceremony at his Mumbai home on March 11, is now opening up about the deeply personal thought process behind the couple’s decision to skip the typical celebrity wedding spectacle. In a candid conversation, Kritika explained why she and Gaurav consciously chose meaning over grandeur and why she would not have it any other way. Read on to know what the newlywed has to say about stepping into married life.

Kritika Kamra and Gaurav Kapur’s wedding

In a world where celebrity weddings are often multi-day extravaganzas splashed across social media, Kritika Kamra and Gaurav Kapur chose to do things differently. The couple solemnised their relationship in a quiet registry ceremony held at Gaurav’s Mumbai residence on March 11, 2026, with only their closest family and friends in attendance without any fanfare, elaborate rituals and a packed wedding calendar.Speaking to Hindustan Times, Kamra gave a candid and heartfelt explanation of the couple’s thinking. She said, “Honestly, wedding was not the big deal, the marriage was. That was the big part and when we arrived at that, then how we do it was not really a big thing. We were very sure from the beginning that we don’t want a 3-4 day destination wedding. We did not want to be on a calendar. We did not want to do rituals morning and evening. ”

Kritika Kamra on actually enjoying her own wedding

In a clichéd wedding culture, the bride and groom are the last people to actually enjoy their own celebration. Kritika Kamra, however pushed back on that narrative saying, “I beg to differ. I had a blast because we were not hosting, we were not running. There was no one telling us to rush because the sun is going down, or this entry has to happen. Itne baje the performance has to happen. None of us were performing for anyone. Everything was just happening with the flow. We were truly just carried by our friends and family through the whole thing.”The actress also emphasised that inclusivity was a key factor in their wedding planning decisions. She added that the couple “wanted to be inclusive of the old people in our family, all the children were welcome.”Nearly a month after her wedding, Kritika Kamra says the transition into married life has felt surprisingly smooth, largely because both she and Gaurav Kapur already had well established, independent lives, homes and routines before they wed.
