A bitter legal battle has erupted within the Kapur family following the death of businessman Sunjay Kapur, with his mother Rani Kapur and daughter-in-law Priya Sachdev locked in a dispute over the RK Family Trust. In a recent interaction, Rani Kapur opened up about the ongoing feud, alleging wrongdoing and vowing to fight the case till the end.

‘I will fight till I die… she wants to take over everything’

Reacting to her removal from the trust, Rani Kapur told NDTV, “I think it’s very wrong of her. She entered my family seven years ago… If my husband was alive, he wouldn’t have allowed this.”She added, “The RK Family Trust was formed by my husband, and it will stay like that always. I don’t know how she has come in and now wants to take over my house and everything. I’m not going to allow it. I will fight till I die.”

‘I was in no condition… she made me sign papers’

Making serious allegations, Rani Kapur claimed she was made to sign documents shortly after her son’s death.“Three days after my son’s funeral, we had just come from London. She took me to the office. I was in no condition to sign or read anything. She made me sign papers,” she said.Recalling the moment, she added, “When I came out, my daughters asked me what I had signed. I said I don’t know—I was crying.”Calling the documents invalid, she said, “I should sue her for that… I signed a whole lot of papers without reading them. Not that I can’t read—but I was not in the condition to. Whatever I’ve signed is null and void.”

‘She thinks she owns my house—I don’t know how’

Rani Kapur also spoke about being unable to access her Delhi home. “We built that house years ago when we moved from Bombay to Delhi because my husband was starting a company there,” she said.“Now she thinks she owns the house also—for what, I don’t know,” she added, while denying claims that attempts were made to contact her. “Never—I’m telling you right now, never.”

‘Karisma is in touch… I meet my grandchildren regularly’

Amid the dispute, Rani Kapur said she continues to maintain ties with her other family members, including former daughter-in-law Karisma Kapoor.“Karisma is very much in touch with me. They come and have lunch… we go out. I meet them regularly,” she said, adding, “I’ve always been very fond of her and the kids.”She also expressed emotional pain over being away from one of her grandchildren. “I miss that little one… I haven’t been home since my son passed away. I just can’t enter that house again.”

‘Once I get what’s mine, I’ll decide’

When asked how she wants the matter resolved, Rani Kapur remained guarded. “Once I get it, I’ll decide… you know how the courts in India are—it’s a long legal fight. I don’t want to say anything right now.”The legal dispute over the RK Family Trust continues in court, with both sides having challenged each other’s authority, turning the family conflict into a high-stakes battle over legacy and control in Rs 30,000 crore estate dispute.
