Mamata Banerjee

NEW DELHI: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee broke into a traditional dance at an election rally in Tentulia, drawing cheers and claps from the crowd gathered at Tentulia High School in North 24 Parganas.

‘Even snake can be trusted, but not BJP’

Addressing the gathering the Trinamool Congress chief warned voters: “Even a snake can be trusted, but not BJP.”Banerjee urged voters to support her party, positioning herself as the guardian of the state’s safety.”I am the candidate for TMC. Vote for TMC if you want to keep the state safe,” she said. The Chief Minister also alleged that the BJP brought people from outside to vote in neighbouring Assam because it lacked confidence in winning with votes of the state’s residents.”BJP brought people from outside to vote in Assam as it was not confident of victory with votes of the state’s residents,” she said.Banerjee further claimed that names of 90 lakh people had been removed from electoral rolls through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.”Names of 90 lakh people have been removed (through SIR). All agencies of the country are one-sided. BJP has brought them all,” she said.West Bengal will vote in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with counting scheduled for May 4. The TMC is seeking to retain power against a resurgent BJP, which has made significant inroads in the state since the 2021 elections.
