The SUV continues to be offered with a 1.0-litre TSI engine that produces 85 kW of power and 178 Nm of torque.Volkswagen India on Wednesday unveiled the updated version of its compact SUV Taigun, adding a host of new features, design tweaks, and powertrain enhancements as it looks to stay competitive in India’s crowded SUV market.
The refreshed Taigun comes with over 40 new features, including an upgraded infotainment system, enhanced safety package, and improved transmission options across engine variants.
A key highlight of the update is the introduction of an 8-speed automatic transmission on the 1.0-litre TSI engine, replacing the earlier unit to deliver smoother gear shifts and improved fuel efficiency, particularly in urban driving conditions.
The SUV continues to be offered with a 1.0-litre TSI engine that produces 85 kW of power and 178 Nm of torque. Alongside this, the 1.5-litre TSI engine delivers 110 kW and 250 Nm and is paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
This larger engine also features active cylinder technology, which enhances efficiency by deactivating cylinders under light load without compromising performance.
Variants and availability
The updated model will be available across multiple trims, including Comfortline, Highline, Topline, and GT variants, catering to a wide range of buyers in the compact SUV segment.

Features and technology
The updated Taigun gets a range of technology upgrades, including:
- 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with configurable views
- Voice assistant powered by cloud-based AI
- Integrated app ecosystem with built-in applications
Other additions include a premium sound system, full LED lighting setup, and connected car features.
Design and comfort
The SUV receives cosmetic updates, including redesigned front and rear bumpers, illuminated logos, and new colour options.
Inside, the cabin has been refreshed with updated materials and new upholstery options across variants, aimed at enhancing the overall in-car experience.
On the comfort front, the model now includes features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and an electric driver seat. Automatic climate control has also been made standard across variants, adding to convenience for everyday driving.
Safety
The Taigun retains its five-star Global NCAP safety rating and continues to focus on occupant protection with an expanded safety package. The updated model now comes with six airbags as standard across all variants, reinforcing its safety credentials.
In addition, the SUV is equipped with more than 40 safety features, including electronic stability control and hill hold assist, aimed at improving vehicle stability and control in varied driving conditions. Front and rear parking sensors have also been included to assist drivers during low-speed manoeuvres and tight parking situations.
