Comedian Samay Raina is back with his no-holds-barred special Still Alive, where he opened up about everything from his Kaun Banega Crorepati appearance to the controversy around India’s Got Latent.Recalling his time on KBC, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, Samay admitted that he wasn’t being truthful when he claimed his grandmother was a fan of the megastar.“Dadi mar gayi hai meri. 7 saal ho gaye hain mere dadi ko mar ke,” he revealed, adding that he made the statement just to “play the room.”

‘You are not honest on the Indian internet’

Explaining why he chose to present a different version of himself, Samay said, “Waha maine kiya — ‘Sir dadi meri aapki bohot badi fan hai’… You are not honest on the Indian internet. You cannot be yourself. You play the game, you play the room.”He added that he consciously stepped away from his usual edgy persona. “Main samajhta tha, KBC mein jab ja raha tha, ki main har jagah h*rami banta hoon, yaha clean banunga na to log bolenge what a versatile creator.”

Samay Raina roasts Amitabh Bachchan

The comedian shared that despite having “ulta seedha” thoughts while sitting on the hot seat, he held himself back to maintain that image. He even revealed a joke he chose not to crack at Bachchan’s expense: “Sir, aapne itna polio ka ad kiya, phir bhi apne bete ko paon pe kyu nahi khada kar paye sir.” He then humorously imagined how things might have unfolded after his appearance. He joked that since Amitabh Bachchan is very active on Twitter, the megastar must have initially thought Samay had achieved something big when he saw him on TV — “maybe even won a Param Vir Chakra” — calling out to his family, including Rekha, in excitement. But upon seeing the controversy later, Samay quipped that it must have been shocking, adding, “Sorry Amitabh ji… that night was the worst night of my life — I felt like I lost all contacts.” Concluding the show, Samay said he couldn’t have asked for a better end to India’s Got Latent Season 1, while hinting that Season 2 is likely to drop on YouTube soon.
