Screengrab from video shared by Press TV on X.

Iran on Tuesday claimed to have shot down a US MQ-9 drone flying over its territory, as it shared a video.”Iran’s IRGC Navy air defense shot down a US-made MQ-9 drone last night over Qeshm Island,” said state-affiliated media Press TV said on social media while sharing a video. The 2 minute and 58 seconds clip shows a drone being hit and crashing as it burst into flames. Earlier last week, Iran had claimed to have shot down 2 MQ-9 drones and shared video at the time too. In a statement, the IRGC had said the long-range drone was “intercepted and destroyed” by an advanced system forming part of Iran’s integrated air defence network. Iran’s local media shared a video claiming the attack saying, “The moment of impact and explosion of two MQ-9 drones in the airspace over Isfahan last night.”This comes as the conflict escalates in the region, with US -Israel strikes multiple Iranian sites including strategically important Kharg island and multiple key bridges. Two people were killed and three others injured after a US-Israeli strike targeted a railway bridge in the central Iranian city of Kashan on Tuesday, according to local authorities. The attack hit the Yahya Abad railway bridge, a key piece of infrastructure in the region. A senior security official from Isfahan Province confirmed the incident in a statement carried by Islamic Republic News Agency., as quoted by AFP “A few minutes ago, the American-Zionist aggressor attacked the Yahya Abad railway bridge in Kashan city,” Akbar Salehi was quoted as saying. “Two people were martyred and three others were injured in this attack,” he added.
