Tamil Nadu Election 2026: DMK vs AIADMK To Face-Off In 121 Seats; Direct Battles To Seal State’s Fate

DMK vs AIADMK direct face off in 121 Tamil Nadu seats 2026: The stage is set for a high-stakes electoral showdown in Tamil Nadu, as the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) prepare for direct contests in as many as 121 Assembly constituencies. With both parties finalizing their seat-sharing arrangements with alliance partners, attention has now shifted to these constituencies where the two Dravidian majors will lock horns directly.

Tamil Nadu Election: DMK Vs AIADMK Direct Contest

Out of the total 234 Assembly seats in the state, DMK and AIADMK will face each other in 121 constituencies. These direct contests are expected to play a decisive role in shaping the final electoral outcome. Candidates contesting under the DMK’s iconic Rising Sun symbol and the AIADMK’s Two Leaves symbol have already been announced, setting the stage for intense campaigning across these battlegrounds.

Political observers note that these one-on-one contests eliminate the influence of alliance arithmetic, making voter preference between the two principal parties more evident.

Both DMK and AIADMK have completed negotiations with their respective allies, ensuring a clear division of seats across coalitions. This has allowed the parties to concentrate their efforts on constituencies where they directly challenge each other.

These contests are likely to witness aggressive campaigning, as both sides aim to consolidate their traditional vote banks while also appealing to undecided voters.
