Lindsey Graham says US is so close to strategic victory: 'Either via diplomacy or military action'

Lindsey Graham says US is very close to strategic victory and Trump is right to blow up Iran’s crucial infrastructure so they can’t go back to their old ways

Senator Lindsey Graham, who has been supporting Donald Trump’s Iran war, said Monday that the US is very close to achieving a strategic victory. Congratulating the president’s negotiating team, the South Carolina senator said President Trump is “right to blow up their crucial infrastructure” so that Iran can’t go back to their old ways. Calling Iran an evil regime, the senator said Iran cheated at every turn and US will ensure that the control of the Strair of Hormuz does not lie with Iran. “Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, a scenario that cannot be allowed to occur is that the Iranian regime clung to survival because it acquired control of the strait and blackmailed the world, Graham said. “It must be clear that when this war is over – either via diplomacy or military action – that control of the Strait of Hormuz does not lie with Iran.” Graham who turned into a friend from a foe to the president over the war, said even one ounce of uranium should not be allowed to exist in Iran. “Under President Bush ‘43, the US was allowed to go in and dismantle Libya’s nuclear facilities and enrichment capability, and remove all enriched uranium. This model should be followed in Iran because we cannot allow any highly enriched uranium to remain in the country as it will either be turned into a dirty bomb or could be enriched to weapons grade material in the future. When it comes to Iran and nuclear enrichment deals, they always cheat,” he said. “President Trump is right to insist that any negotiated deal meets our military and strategic objectives. If Iran balks, he’s right to blow up their crucial infrastructure so they can’t go back to their old ways.””This war must end in a fashion — either through diplomacy or military action — that prevents Iran from going back to their old ways. If we achieve this result, there will be a gateway to peace in the Middle East previously unimaginable in its scope. We’re so close to achieving a strategic victory. Let’s finish the job,” he added. Trump called a proposal for a 45-day ceasefire with Iran a “significant step” but said it is “not good enough”. “They made a proposal, and it’s a significant proposal. It’s a significant step. It’s not good enough, but it’s a very significant step,” Trump told reporters about the draft put forward by countries working to end the war.
