Akshay returned cheque to Ektaa Kapoor after a film flopped, Tabu reacts

Akshay Kumar returned cheque to Ektaa Kapoor after a film flopped leaving her shocked, Tabu asks her for profit from 'Crew'

Akshay Kumar is gearing up for his upcoming release ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and at the film’s trailer launch in Mumbai on Monday, an interesting behind-the-scenes story caught everyone’s attention. The event was attended by the film’s cast, including Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, along with director Priyadarshan and co-producer Ektaa Kapoor.During the interaction, Ektaa revealed a surprising anecdote about Akshay from their earlier collaboration, believed to be ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara’. She shared how the actor returned his fee after the film failed at the box office, a gesture that left her stunned.Ektaa shared, “I have been waiting to work with Akshay for quite a few years now. One thing that people don’t know is that he is the only actor who called me up after our first film didn’t do well.” She went on to describe the moment she met him afterward. “He gave me a cheque, and he said this is the money back for you, you have lost money, take your money. I was in shock. No one does this. In my 31 years in this industry, no one has ever done this. He just gave the cheque so casually. I said, ‘No, sir. You do a film for my company. We will make lots of money. That film has finally happened,” she said.As the audience responded with applause, Tabu lightened the mood with a witty remark, bringing up their recent hit ‘Crew’. She quipped, “And what about the overflow that you have earned on Crew? When will that get to us?”Ektaa laughed at the question and replied, “When does a producer give that? They never do.” Tabu wrapped it up with a knowing smile, saying, “We know that.”After a packed 2025 with releases like ‘Sky Force’, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, ‘Housefull 5’, and ‘Jolly LLB 3’, ‘Bhooth Bangla’ marks Akshay’s first release of 2026. The actor also has a busy slate ahead, with films like ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, ‘Haiwaan’, and ‘Golmaal 5’ in the pipeline, while fans continue to await a confirmed update on ‘Hera Pheri 3’.
