NEW DELHI: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay, who had earlier submitted an election affidavit stating he had no pending criminal cases, has now declared two pending FIRs in a fresh affidavit filed with the returning officer for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections scheduled on April 23. The actor-politician is contesting from the Perambur and Tiruchirapalli East constituencies, having filed his nomination for Perambur on March 30 and for Trichy East on April 2. The updated affidavit lists two cases – one each from from Chennai and Madurai – that were not included in his original submission. In the latest filing, Vijay disclosed FIR number 74 of 2026, registered at K5 Peravallur Police Station in Chennai, concerning alleged public disturbance during election campaigning on March 30. He noted in the affidavit that he became aware of the case through social media on April 2. A second FIR, number 108 of 2025 from Koodakovil Police Station in Madurai district, relates to an incident during a party conference on August 21, 2025. The complainant alleged being pushed and injured by bouncers while trying to approach Vijay during a ramp walk. While the criminal record section changed in the fresh affidavit, the financial disclosures remained largely consistent. Vijay’s movable assets are now valued at approximately Rs 410.59 crore, up from Rs 404.58 crore previously, including silver articles worth Rs 15 lakh and 883 grams of gold jewellery valued at over Rs 1.20 crore. The total current market value of his immovable properties, comprising commercial and residential buildings in areas such as Neelankarai and Saligramam, is estimated at Rs 220.15 crore. For the 2024-2025 financial year, the TVK leader declared a total income of Rs 184.53 crore. He also reported pending income tax demands of around Rs 3.44 crore across multiple assessment years, which are currently under appeal. The counting of votes for all 234 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu is set for May 4.(With PTI inputs)
