A Pakistani journalist’s flood coverage has gone viral after her raw and emotional reaction on camera drew comparisons to the famous “Chand Nawab from Karachi” clip. In the video, journalist Mehrunnisa is seen reporting from a boat during rising floodwaters when she suddenly abandons her professional tone and begins expressing her fear.

“Mera dil yun yun kar rha hai” (my heart is doing this), she says, describing her heart palpitations. In two separate clips, Mehrunnisa appears visibly shaken, shouting in fear as the boat sways.

“My heart is going down,” she tells viewers at one point, before adding, “Guys, please pray for us. I am very uncomfortable and scared.”

The unusual broadcast, which captured her panic in real time, quickly spread online, with many comparing it to the now-iconic 2008 video of Karachi journalist Chand Nawab struggling to film his report at a train station.

Pakistan Rainfall And Flash Floods

Heavy monsoon rains and flash floods killed at least 739 people across Pakistan since late June. More than 2,400 houses have been damaged, nearly 1,000 people injured and over 1,000 animals lost, with severe weather forecast to continue into September.

The northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been hit hardest, where authorities declared a state of emergency in nine districts after torrential rains left 368 people dead, 182 injured and damaged more than 1,300 homes.

Urban flooding has struck Karachi, where six people died, while Punjab reported large-scale crop losses and mass displacement along the Indus and Chenab rivers.
