Iran endgame, gas prices, Strait of Hormuz crisis & more: Key takeaways from Donald Trump's big address

US President Donald Trump on Thursday delivered key updates on Iran war stating that Operation Epic Fury was “nearing completion” and will end very soon. He also suggested the fuel crisis-hit nations to buy oil from the United States or “go take it from the Strait” as Iran has blocked Hormuz, especially for the countries supporting aggressor nations.Facing a public weary of war and declining approval ratings, Trump restated his plan to end the conflict within two to three weeks.Trump and his advisers have offered changing explanations and timelines for the war, now in its fifth week. Convincing voters that the conflict is limited and nearing its conclusion could help ease public concern, as most Americans oppose the war and many are frustrated by rising fuel prices caused by global supply disruptions.

Key takeaways from Trump’s address:

‘War to end soon, in next two to three weeks’

Trump repeated his claim that the war will end soon, adding that the US forces will continue to hit Iran for next two to three week”Over thenext two to three weeks, we are going to bring them back to the Stone Ages, where they belong,” he said.

On oil crisis

Trump suggested that the nations that are facing oil crisis should buy it from America or “got to the Strait and take it”. “Many Americans have been concerned to see the recent rise in gasoline prices here at home. This short-term increase has been entirely the result of the Iranian regime launching deranged terror attacks against commercial oil tankers and neighbouring countries that have nothing to do with the conflict. This is yet more proof that Iran can never be trusted with nuclear weapons. They will use them, and they will use them quickly. It would lead to decades of extortion, economic pain, and instability worse than we can ever imagine,” he said. “The United States has never been better prepared economically to confront this threat. You all know that we built the strongest economy in history… In one year, we’ve taken a dead and crippled country… and made it the hottest country anywhere in the world by far, with no inflation, record-setting investments coming into the United States of over $18 trillion, and the highest stock market ever, with 53 all-time record highs in just one year. It all positioned us to get rid of a cancer that has long simmered. It’s known as a nuclear Iran, and they didn’t know what was coming. They never imagined it. Remember, because of our Drill, Baby, Drill’ program, America has plenty of gas. We have so much gas under our feet,” he added.

Operation Epic Fury update

Trump provided an update highlighting the progress of US forces in Iran and described Operation Epic Fury as crucial for the safety of America and global security. He reiterated his long-standing commitment to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and detailed the regime’s history of attacks on Americans and allies, including the Beirut Marine barracks bombing, the USS Cole attack, roadside bombings, and the October 7 atrocities in Israel. “Tonight, I want to provide an update on the tremendous progress our warriors have made in Iran and discuss why Operation Epic Fury is necessary for the safety of America and the security of the free world. From the very first day I announced my campaign for president in 2015, I have vowed that I would never allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon. This regime has been chanting ‘Death to America, Death to Israel’ for 47 years,” he said.”Their proxies were behind the murder of 241 Americans in the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut and the slaughter of hundreds of our service members with roadside bombs. They were involved in the attack on the USS Cole, and they carried out countless other heinous acts, including the horrible, bloody atrocities of October 7th in Israel, something that most people have never seen before,” he added.
