‘I know my H-1B rules’: Indian techie’s viral fight with Texas whistleblower over working at food truck

'I know my H-1B rules': Indian techie's viral fight with Texas whistleblower over working at food truck

Indian techie’s fight with Texas journalist goes viral as Sara Gonzales accuses him of abusing his H-1B by ‘working’ in what he called his wife’s food truck.

Texas journalist Sara Gonzales, who gained fame after she claimed to have busted H-1B scams in the state, went to confront an Indian techie about whom she said she received tips that, despite being on H-1B, the man was running a food truck business. Gonzales said it was a typical H-1B-H4 scam where an H-1B comes to the US and brings a dependent and then runs a business in the name of the dependent. Gonzales said Naveen Tummala’s H-1B was sponsored by Flexera Global Inc., but he was calling himself the owner of the ‘Golcona Xpress’ food truck, which has several outlets in the DFW area. Gonzales said she received tips that this man can be found working throughout the day inside the food truck and on Instagram videos, he calls himself ‘masterchef’ and posts his cooking videos. The video of the confrontation went viral as Naveen said he was neither the owner nor the chef of the food truck, and he was at the truck to set up the printer after his office work finished at 4. The conversation turned combative as Gonzales asked the man why his wife, whom he claimed was the owner, was at the home and he was working at the food truck. The man said he was not working there and came to fix something. “I just saw you take someone’s order,” Gonzales said as he asked him about the social media posts. Naveen said he knows the recipes but not the chef of the food truck, and he only helps his wife in her business. “I am off my duty. I cannot help my wife, or what? Do you think I am getting paid for it? I know my rules. I know my rights,” Naveen countered. “Do you think the business owners are always at the businesses they own?” Naveen added as he was pressed to explain his wife’s absence. Then the Indian asked Gonzales to apologize to him for barging into his property and threatening him. “You can do whatever you want. You think that’s American. You guys do the same thing for everybody. Go ahead and check your backyard,” Naveen said. Gonzales said she did not understand his English. “You didn’t even let him speak. You were yelling at him!?!? How is it reporting honestly!?!? What is the scam you are talking about!?!? H4 can do a business. Husband helping her wife!?!? Which one is a scam!?! Why don’t you look into Hispanic community in Texas!?!? Aren’t they already above 30%. Have done any reporting on them!?! Harassing legal people or visa process you know nothing about while not reporting what’s happening in own community is honest!?!?” one social media user said.
