‘Trump will not dictate end of war’: Iran dismisses US’ 15-point de-escalation proposal, counters with its own 5 demands

‘Trump will not dictate end of war’: Iran dismisses US' 15-point de-escalation proposal, counters with its own 5 demands

Damage in Tehran

Iran has rejected a US proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, insisting that any ceasefire will occur only on its own terms and timeline, a senior political-security official told Press TV on Wednesday.“Iran says it will end the war when it decides to do so and when its own conditions are met,” the official said, adding that Tehran would continue its military response and inflict “heavy blows” until its demands are fulfilled. The Tehran official said Washington had been pursuing talks through multiple diplomatic channels, but described its proposals as “excessive” and detached from battlefield realities. The latest US overture, delivered via a regional intermediary, was dismissed as an attempt to escalate tensions rather than resolve them.

Israel Iran War

Here are the demands set by Iranian official:

  1. Halt to attacks and assassinations: Tehran has demanded a complete halt to what it described as “aggression and assassinations” by its adversaries.
  2. Guarantees against future war: Iran has called for concrete mechanisms to ensure that conflict is not reimposed on the country.
  3. War damage compensation: Tehran is seeking guaranteed and clearly defined payment of war damages and reparations.
  4. End to conflict across fronts: Iran has insisted that any agreement must include the conclusion of hostilities across all fronts and among allied groups in the region.
  5. Sovereignty over Strait of Hormuz: The official said Iran wants international recognition and guarantees of its sovereign right over the Strait of Hormuz.

“No negotiations will be held prior to that,” the official said, stressing that military operations would continue until these conditions are met. “The end of the war will occur when Iran decides it should end, not when Trump envisions its conclusion,” the official added. The remarks come as fighting continues between Iran and Israel, alongside US involvement, with strikes targeting Iranian infrastructure and Tehran continuing missile launches in response. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has also disrupted global energy supplies, adding urgency to diplomatic efforts.Meanwhile, the US’s 15-point proposal reportedly includes curbs on Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes, as well as restrictions on regional activities, in exchange for sanctions relief and support for civilian nuclear development.Read more: What’s inside Trump’s 15-point plan to end war with Iran?Iranian military officials have responded sharply to Washington’s stance. Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari said President Donald Trump appeared to be “negotiating with himself.” He added, “The one claiming to be a global superpower would have already gotten out of this mess if it could. Don’t dress up your defeat as an agreement. Your era of empty promises has come to an end.”With both sides holding firm positions, prospects for a near-term resolution remain uncertain.
