Alex Warren opens up about 2016 Grammy mishap

While talking to PEOPLE about his career, Warren revealed that the night of the 2016 Grammys was perhaps one of the most scary nights of his life. Due to technical difficulties, he ended up making mistakes on stage while performing ‘Ordinary.’ This led him to believe at the time that his career in the music industry was essentially over. “I was really surprised by so many people coming up to me that day. I think when you’re in these settings, and there’s all these important people, you kind of just think … I walk into that room, and I think everyone hates me for some reason.” He further added that the team had been rehearsing the performance for the whole week, and everything had been perfected. He still does not know what actually happened the night of the malfunction. He recalled his reactions on the night of his Grammy debut, citing, “We rehearsed it all week. They’re like, ’30 seconds,’ and I said, “I can’t hear anything. I can’t hear myself,” and the guy’s like, ‘It’s live TV, 25 seconds,’ and I go, ‘Guys, something’s wrong,’ Something gets blasted into left ear, and right ear I hear nothing, and I go, ‘Guys, I can’t hear.’”
