Speculation surrounding ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is gathering momentum, with fresh rumours linking Andrew Garfield and Kiernan Shipka to the project alongside Tom Holland. While no official casting announcements have been made, online chatter has intensified around Shipka potentially stepping into the role of Gwen Stacy, a fan-favourite character who has long been rumoured to be on her way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), after making her appearance in ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’.

Andrew, had fans speculating that he may be denying rumours of his return as the superhero after his response when asked about the trailer. He said, “I haven’t seen it yet with sound. I’ve seen it without sound, cas i was in a makeup chair, and I didn’t want to disturb everyone, but it looks cool, it was very very cool.”

Gwen Stacy to make MCU debut?

Meanwile, speculation about the character Gwen Stacy making her debut, comes after details observed in the film’s recently released trailer. Fans noted that Peter Parker appears to be attending Empire State University in ‘Brand New Day’, after he is seen wearing his ESU hoodie. In Marvel Comics lore, the University marks the place where Peter first meets Gwen Stacy and Harry Osborn. This detail has led many to believe that the MCU could finally be setting the stage for Gwen Stacy’s introduction. Her character was also teased in ‘No Way Home’, when Andrew’s Peter gets emotional while remembering Gwen’s demise in the ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’.
