Musician accuses Indian music label of plagiarising for ‘Raanjhan’

Musician accuses Indian music label of plagiarising beat for Kriti Sanon starrer 'Do Patti' song, 'Raanjhan' - Report

The song ‘Raanjhan’ from the 2024 film ‘Do Patti’ is at the center of a new plagiarism dispute. International music producer KMKZ has alleged that T-Series and music duo Sachet-Parampara used his beat without permission or credit. In a viral video, KMKZ detailed how a fan alerted him to the uncredited use of his composition, prompting him to seek help from the online community to get justice and recognition for his work.Let’s take a closer look at the details of this controversy.

KMKZ pinpoints the plagiarised beat in ‘Raanjhan’ song

KMKZ, a music producer who sells beats online, claims the piano tune in the hit song is an exact replica of a beat he composed and posted two years ago. The musician stated he attempted to contact the music label and the song’s composers, Sachet-Parampara, but received no response.

The accusation and call for help by KMKZ

In an Instagram video, KMKZ detailed his discovery, revealing that a fan messaged him after recognizing his uncredited beat in the chart-topping song. “I produced the number one song in India, and I didn’t even know about it,” he said.Shocked by the finding, which boasts over 290 million streams on Spotify, he reached out to the music label. “I emailed the artist. I emailed everybody at T-Series that I could find, and I got zero response from anybody,” he explained in the video. The musician expressed his frustration, stating, “They pretty much just ripped the beat off of YouTube and didn’t contact me or pay me or credit me or anything. And now they have a number one song on Indian Billboard.”

A recurring issue for the said music label

This is not the first time the music label and the composers of ‘Raanjhan’ have faced such an allegation. Last year, singer Nilanjana Ghosh Dastidar accused the music label of using her husband Rajarshi Mitter’s track in the song ‘Maiyya’, also from ‘Do Patti’.KMKZ is now appealing to his followers for help. In his caption, he urged, “If anyone knows anyone who can help me out with this in some way, then please get this video to them and have them DM me asap! And please leave a comment on this video and share it so it can reach the right people.”The song ‘Raanjhan’, featuring vocals by Parampara Tandon, has been a massive hit, with over 33 crore views on YouTube since its release last November.
