The killing of cow protector Chandrashekhar in Mathura has triggered a major political controversy, raising concerns over law and order in the state. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the government, calling the incident a failure of governance and alleging that fear and insecurity are rising under BJP rule. He questioned how such violence could occur in a religious region like Mathura and Vrindavan, accusing the ruling party of fueling tensions. In response, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken strict note of the situation and directed officials to ensure tough action against those responsible. Authorities have launched extensive search operations, scanning nearby areas and detaining around two dozen suspects linked to the unrest and stone-pelting. Meanwhile, the victim’s last rites are being prepared, and a post-mortem is expected to determine the exact cause of death. Officials claim the situation is now under control, with traffic restored and security tightened, though tensions remain in certain areas.
