Akshay Kumar pens tribute for martial artist, actor Chuck Norris

Akshay Kumar pens tribute for martial artist, actor Chuck Norris as he passes away: 'The discipline he brought, stayed with me'

Akshay Kumar was a martial artist before he became an actor and over the years, the actor has set a benchmark in the industry when it comes to action. Not many actors do their own action scenes but Akshay left everyone shocked with the kind of action he performed in the 90s. Which is why, the demise of Chuck Norris feels personal to him. The ‘Khiladi’ actor penned an emotional note as Norris passed away at the age of 86. His family confirmed the actor’s demise in a statement. Following that, Akshay took to social media and wrote, “Growing up as a martial artist, watching Chuck Norris in Way of the Dragon, Missing in Action and many more wasn’t just entertainment…it was education. The discipline, strength, and that effortless command he brought on screen stayed with me. Grateful for the inspiration that shaped a part of me. 🙏” Meanwhile, in an official statement, Norris’ family wrote, “It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace. We know many of you had heard about his recent hospitalisation, and we are truly grateful for the prayers and support you sent his way. ” Chuck Norris was born in 1940 in Oklahoma and formerly served in the United States Airforce before growing into a martial arts champion and holder of multiple black belts in Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He started his career in the film industry with his first appearance in ‘The Wrecking Crew’ (1968), but he became even more widely known after his on-screen fight with Bruce Lee in a movie released in 1972.
