Breaking News: Tawi River Floods Gujjar Nagar In Jammu, Homes And Roads Buried Under Slush

The aftermath of the Tawi River’s sudden rise has left Jammu’s Gujjar Nagar area devastated. Heavy flooding on Tuesday caused the river to overflow despite the presence of a protection wall, which failed to contain the force of water mixed with mud and silt. The floodwaters carried large amounts of debris into residential neighborhoods, leaving homes, vehicles, and roads buried under thick layers of slush.Visuals from the area show the extent of the damage, with an entire car submerged in mud. Houses built along the banks of the Tawi have been severely affected, with nearly one full floor of some buildings completely buried. Roads in Gujjar Nagar have been reduced to broken, muddy patches, making transportation nearly impossible. Locals report that the sudden surge of water swept through the settlement with such intensity that people had little time to react.Residents now face the challenge of clearing tons of mud that have swallowed streets and homes. Authorities are conducting relief operations, but restoration will take significant time given the scale of damage. The incident highlights the vulnerability of riverside settlements and the urgent need for stronger flood-control measures in flood-prone regions
